Issue 9: April 24, 2025
“Delicious smells from all around the globe wafted through the air in Honsey Hall on April 8. Students, Faculty and Staff enjoyed the various made by Bethany’s own International students in an old tradition brought back for a new life. Issue 8 (The Scrawl): April 1, 2025
“Faculty and staff members were wowed and impressed at the red carpet of Bethany’s Met Gala event of which this year’s theme was “Bethany. Values. Me.” Professors and students alike dressed their best for the biggest event of the year, with one professor’s look even featuring a live Luther-quoting parrot.” Read more in “The events of the Bethany Met Gala” on page 1 of this hilarious, April Fool’s edition of The Scrawl.

Issue 7: March 20, 2025
“IBM Distinguished Engineer William Starke shared his insights on being a Christian in a large, high-tech environment. Starke discussed how he handles his career and leadership opportunities while maintaining his faith.” Read more in “IBM Engineer encourages Christians” (p. 1).

Issue 6: February 13, 2025
“In a captivating presentation by Benji Inniger on Feb. 6, he discussed his love and appreciation for his wildlife project Bold North, and his current gallery exhibition, Humans Don’t Exist. Inniger shared how these projects show that humans take away the authenticity and natural beauty of landscapes, and the realization ultimately led to his decision to document wildlife” (p. 1).

Issue 5: January 23, 2025
The reception for “A Gathering of Waters” on January 6 showcased the beautiful artwork of Andrew Judkins. His creations not only reflected his artistic talent but also the incredible artistry of our Creator as displayed in nature. Read more in “Local scenery captured in paint” (p. 1).

Issue 4: December 5, 2024
Bethany Vikings Clay Target made history this fall, advancing to the 2024 National competition in Bunker Hill, Illinois, and earning a top national placement, with senior Douglas Lindee performing the National Anthem during the event’s opening ceremonies. Issue 3: November 14, 2024
Media Arts students sophomore Tyler Pasbrig and junior Coleton Pringle premiered two original films, showcasing their talents in the documentary and horror genres. “Needful” explores the role of theater in Bethany’s liberal arts education, while “Mina” draws chilling inspiration from the classic vampire film “Nosferatu.” Read more in “Original student films premiered” (p. 1).

Issue 2: October 17, 2024
Dr. Woller reported his shortcomings in curing cancer and Parkinson’s disease, but shared the many learning opportunities he had during his sabbatical. While he was gone, he conducted scientific research at universities in Montana and Iowa. Read more in “Curing cancer and Parkinson’s takes time” (p. 4).

Issue 1: September 19, 2024
In a captivating showcase of musical talent, faculty members and instrument instructors performed a recital that displayed their technical talents and musical passions. Laura Matzke and 13 music teachers filled Trinity Chapel with their music on September 3. Read more in “We were all created to be artists” (p. 1).
